Just some random idea I got when I was in a meeting room. The idea of Shusei with Touko seems too tempting, yet I didn't know whether I'm going to continue this or not. It all depends on my free time and the responses I get. Plus, I'm currently busy with my teaching practicum to think too much about it.

Suggestions and constructive comments are always welcome. =)

Pairing: Shusei x Touko.

Synopsis: Shusei and Touko agreed to pretend like they're dating.

Word count: 905 words

Soft, pink petals flew around the boulevard as if they were dancing happily. As the sakura-scented air soothed the feelings of whoever walked by, it failed to soothe the feelings of groups of students. Murmurs were heard everywhere. But for the two subjects of the talks, there's nothing that could affect them except the presence of Yuki in front of them. Well, ok, so they lied.

"Remind me why do we have to do this again?" Shusei asked, keeping his indifferent face.

Toko smiled and adjusted her hair, "You mean other than shutting the mouths from the main house who has sent a spy to the school?"

"And we should just follow whatever they asked us because…?"

The girl just smiled at her friend. She knew that he had the answer already. But at times, she asked the same question to herself. Would it be better if she defied the order? It wouldn't change the fact that they had to face the same destiny over and over again; Living with the same group of people; Fighting against the same group of people. So which part of obeying the main house's order helped them to change their future?

"Let's just say…" the girl smirked mischievously. "…that it's fun to see Hotsuma being restless about this ordeal."

Shusei stopped on his track and thought about his partner's attitude these past few days. He's been in a bad mood and acting like a sulking child who doesn't get to play with his favourite toy. So the blonde acted like that because of him and Touko? But wasn't he was fully aware of the responsibility they have to perform as Zweilts?

"Shusei-kun?" Touko called. "We're going to be late for school."

The brunette stared at the girl in front of him. Not far from them, Tsukumo took a quick glance at the two of them while pretending to be listening to Yuki. Everything was still normal, except for the fact that they have to pretend like they were a couple. Or the fact that Hotsuma has stopped barging into his room in the morning to drag him to the dining room for breakfast. Speaking of the blonde, he hadn't seen him since yesterday.

"Is everything ok?" Touko asked worriedly when the brunette remained silent.

"Nothing," Shusei finally answered. He walked towards the girl as his hand went to her bang. "You got a flower petal in your hair," he explained with a smile, putting the petal on her hand.

Excited gasps and squeals were heard and the act caught the girl off guard. This kind of act wasn't in their agreement. All they needed to do was act like they're going out together, like walking to and from school together. Or showing some sort of excitement when they chat. But this…this was new. It's not that she'd never been in this kind of situation before. She always did it with Tsukumo. This was supposed to be normal for her. Was it because it was Shusei?

Wait, wait!

What was that heat she just felt on her cheeks? Did she just blush? As quick as she could, she turned around and laughed like an idiot.

"Ahahaha, I just put it there on purpose, silly!" she tried to cover her traitorous blush.

For some reasons, she knew that Tsukumo's eyes were fixed on her. And as she looked up, the boy sent her a sad smile. It brought nothing but guilt to her heart.

"Hotsuma," Shusei's voice brought her back to the reality.

The blonde walked behind them, his sling bag hung loosely behind his back. His ever present frown wasn't as intense as usual, but she could tell something was bothering him.

"Good morning, Hotsuma-kun," she greeted cheerfully.

"Ah," Hotsuma responded.

To everyone's surprise, he jumped and sent a flying kick to Shusei. As if expecting the attack, the brunette jumped backward and parried the blonde's punch like a pro.

"You left your lunch again," Hotsuma growled to his partner while shoving the brown paper bag to Shusei.

"Why, thank you, Hotsuma. I didn't know you love me this much," Shusei teased with his usual smile.

"Very funny," Hotsuma replied annoyingly and walked towards Yuki and Tsukumo, leaving the two Zweilts.

"It's weird when he didn't put up more of a fight like usual," Touko said.

"Nah…he is showing more fights than usual," the brunette answered. That's why he didn't prolong the verbal fight longer than usual, he mused silently.

"But he's right, Shusei-kun." Shusei stared, daring the girl to continue. "You're too thin."

The two continued walking in silence. Touko felt a bit restless. Did she say something that she shouldn't have? Then again, Shusei was always like that; always kept his true feeling to himself. The only person who managed to make him talk would be Hotsuma. If her comment offended him, he would have told her…right?

The question hovered in her head until they were about to part to their respective classes. Suddenly, Shusei took her hand and their bodies were too close to her comfort.

"If I'm too thin, Touko-san, would you mind giving me some of your fat?" the brunette whispered and walked away with a mischievous smile as the girl was too stunned and shocked to move.

D-did she hear it right? Did Shusei say the most taboo word to girls all around the world? Did he just say that s-she's…FAT?

"SHUSEI!"

Just a little drawing I did to make sure I won't fall asleep in class. It's from Katherine Daystar's fanfic Phantom Destiny. It's from chapter 37 where Satoshi and Risa discuss their situation.
Sorry if the hands and legs look so...ugly and all. I'm a sucker when it comes to that part in sketching.

DN Angel's fanfic: It Will Rain

sadness

The edited version of the fanfic.

Disclaimer: DN Angel is not mine.

Pairing: Satoshi x Risa.

Synopsis: Without her, it will rain.

Word count: 2258 words.

Inspired by Bruno Mars’ It Will Rain. Credit to [info]stargate27 for pointing out my silly mistakes.

The small beeps from the heart monitor filled the silence. Hiwatari Satoshi stared at the rain outside— the rain that hadn’t really stopped since last week. And since last week, the girl in front of him hadn’t opened her eyes. She had been unresponsive after the accident. There’s nothing much the doctors could do until the sleeping beauty wake up. With shaky hands, he held hers and prayed for some sort of miracle to happen. He didn’t ask much. He just wanted her to open her eyes, her lips to form the most beautiful smile in the world and those small arms to provide comfort for him. Was he too greedy to ask for such things?

Maybe it’s greedy— after what he’d done to her. He was not a jealous type of person. In fact, he never really cared what other people thought about him. Guessed that’s the thing that tore them apart. His indifferent and coldness had finally cost him something that he finally held dear to. He was greedy for asking more from the girl that hadn’t giving up on him; the girl who hadn’t stop from opening his heart to the world. Sure, he and Risa had been going out (if those ‘coincidence meetings’ that ended up with short coffee breaks and dinners passed as dates) for almost a year. But just how many times did he appreciate the girl for spending her time with him? How many times she’d keep her smile even after he’d coldly ignored her?

It sure surprised him to find her standing outside of his door with two big luggages one morning saying that it’s time for her to shift into a new phase in her life after she found her dream job. Damn her tarot cards for giving her the ‘brilliant idea’. Though they’re staying under one roof, Satoshi’s cold demeanor was still the same. The two did their own things more like roommates than a couple.

His anemia had been the major contributor for their progress. Thanks to its attack one morning. He was preparing himself to work after finishing his all night investigation when the symptoms began to appear. Brushing his bang from his sweating forehead, he swayed dangerously before a wave of dizziness swept gravity away from him. He must had blacked out, instinctively grabbed something to break his fall and made a loud sound because the next thing he knew, he was on the floor with his head resting on Risa’s laps. His mind was too fuzzy to understand what she said, but he was sure that the girl was on the verge of panic attack as she kept crying and talking frantically with someone on the phone. His heart clenched seeing those tears falling down her face, but he was too weak to move. He vaguely remembered her embraced him, saying how cold his body was before Daisuke and Riku turned up later with paramedics tailing at their backs. That night, Risa shyly stole a kiss when she thought that he was unconscious.

“Don’t scare me like that again…” she had whispered.

And so, Satoshi had kept reminding himself to treat Risa better than before, though establishing good relationships had never been his forte since he was young (not to mention having a maniac blonde resided within him had made it all a waste of time). Risa’s cooking had slightly improved, and it had encouraged her to prepare dinners for Satoshi. That’s why he always brought something as backup in case his dinner turned into charcoals. Yep, you read that right. He’d changed his diet to accompany the brunette to make sure Risa wouldn’t die from hunger— or food poisoning. But one thing that the blunette failed to notice was the fact that he tended to go home earlier than the time before Risa moved in—or the fact that he’d slowly crawled out of his solitude.

Everything seemed to be fine, until he found her staring at a familiar raven-black feather. Almost everytime he saw her with the feather, she’d held it dearly with a sad look on her face. He brushed it off, fully aware of her affection towards the phantom thief. Though there’s a twinge of jealousy, he knew the brunette had now chosen him…right?

“Am I Dark’s substitute?” Satoshi asked, his gaze remained on the steam coming from the coffee mugs in front of him.

“What do you mean?”

“What exactly am I to you?”

With that question, Risa’s sweet smile formed. “Isn’t that obvious? You’re my boyfriend.”

The blunette was silent for a while, “I saw the way you look at the feather.”

With their intertwined fingers loosen and bodies which pressed against each other for warmth earlier separated, Risa turned her head to look at Satoshi with wide eyes. The sound of the rain filled the silence as Satoshi looked at Risa’s pale face. Her smile faded.

“I’m not mad that you still have feelings for him, Risa. Or that you still keep his…memento. But I don’t understand why you look at it with that sad expression when you thought I wasn’t looking. If it hurts you to be with me, then we better end this relationship.”

“A-are you saying we should break up…?”

The blunette rubbed his hand on his cheek, reminiscing painful past that he wished he could forget. “I’m everything that he’s not. I can’t give you the same happiness he gave you. I can’t give anyone happiness.”

“You know that’s not true! The months I’ve spend my time with you is the happiest time of my life, and I want it to continue. So stop talking nonsense!”

“And keep remembering him in such a way that says you still mourning for him?”

Risa couldn’t retaliate. It’s true that she still mourned for Dark. Didn’t they say that first love is the deepest? But it didn’t mean that she didn’t love Satoshi. Why should he be mad about someone who was no longer here?

“What’s the use of spending your time with me when you’re thinking about him everyday? Why are you here when you know your heart still belongs to him?”

Tears were forming at the corners of her eyes when she slapped him whole heartedly. Satoshi didn’t flinch. He just stared at the floor without a word.

“I come because I love you, you jerk. Isn’t that enough to be here?!”

The girl ran to her room. The door slammed shut against the thick tension.

Next morning, he heard her room’s door opened, followed by the sound from the entrance door. It didn’t surprise him to find that she’d left with all her belongings. But it hurts to remember those tears on her face. He had made her cried, twice. And it hurts so much thinking that the person he cared the most had walked away from his life.

He stood in front of her empty room for some time when he noticed a pair of white feather and black feather lay on the table. With one glance Satoshi knew they belonged to Dark and Krad. He knew about Dark’s feather, but he didn’t know that she owned Krad’s too.

And he stared.

He didn’t remember when he ran out of his apartment, driving aimlessly for Risa. He called her handphone numerous times, only to be greeted by the operator when she didn’t answer it. He’d called Riku, but she told him that Risa didn’t come home. She didn’t come to work too, leaving him with no clue. When he tried to call her friends, he noticed that he didn’t know any of them. He knew some of her close friends at school, but most of them had moved out of the town. That’s when he realized that he didn’t know much about her as much as she knew him.

He opted to walk under the heavy rain, thinking that it’s better than being stuck in the traffic jam with small chances of finding her. He searched everywhere, every place that Risa loved to go, but there’s no trace of her. For the first time, Satoshi felt so hopeless.

He hastily picked up his handphone when it rang, with the hope that the caller was Risa.

“Hiwatari-kun,” Daisuke’s shaky voice spoke. “Risa…h-her taxi involved with an accident this morning—”

His phone slipped from his shaky hand. Daisuke’s voice could be heard calling for him, but he was too stunned— too lost to notice it. His mind screamed one word; Risa.

It’s his fault that Risa was in that situation.

She might die from her head injury.

She wouldn’t walk away if he didn’t start the argument.

It happened because of him.

Like his mother, Risa’s suffered because of him.

All. Because. Of. Him.

A firm grip on his shoulder startled the blunette. He wiped the forming tears with the hope that the other guy wouldn’t notice.

“How long have you been here?” Daisuke asked with a small smile.

“Some time,” he replied tiredly.

“Want to grab a cup of coffee?”

Satoshi hesitated for a while before he stood up, “Yeah, sure.”

~oOo~

Noises around the cafeteria didn’t faze him. Seeing how depressed his friend was, Daisuke tried to cheer him up with news about his new project and art exhibition. Satoshi made a few responses before he seemed to be lost in thoughts. Daisuke stared at his friend, fully aware that the bearer of his former arch nemesis was blaming himself for what had happened. It amazed him that such a smart person would be in a total loss when it came to the girl who once said that she hated the blunette. Then again, who wouldn’t? Risa was one of the few people who he opened himself to; the only girl whom he had an interest in. And the girl was now lying on the hospital bed, injured, unresponsive and separated from the world in her sleeplike state. Riku had been unwell and depressed too, but at least Daisuke knew how to console her. But Hiwatari Satoshi? The last time he acted like that was during the school years, when they were still…’enemy’.

After a lot of persuasion, Daisuke managed to drive his friend home.  Satoshi insisted that he was fine on his own and slipped into his apartment, leaving his worried friend to unwillingly depart. Closing his apartment door, Satoshi rested his back on the door and slid down onto the floor. He suddenly felt so tired.

“You’re late today. Hectic day, huh?”

Satoshi looked up, expecting to see the brunette stood in front of him. But he was greeted with silence and darkness. The apartment suddenly felt cold, empty and suffocating without anyone to greet him home. Then again, wasn’t that normal for him before?

During his quick shower, he couldn’t take his mind away from Risa. The pain of seeing her in that state plagued him so deep that he wasn’t able to focus on anything else. His headache started to annoy him that made him walked out of the shower and went to search for pain killers behind the mirror. He took a couple of them and drank it down.

“Aspirin? I’ve told you not to overwork yourself.”

He glared at the source of the voice, yet again, nobody was there. Risa wasn’t there. God, he must be very tired to imagine such things. Washing his face for the last time, he went to the kitchen to get something to drink. The rain outside still falls rhythmically. His gaze fixed on a red apple on the table, but he took a bottle of mineral water instead.

“You’re skipping your meal again.”

Satoshi closed his eyes, praying that the tormenting fragment of memories to disappear. He was afraid that he would go crazy. Hell, he must have already been crazy now. Without Risa, there would be neither sunlight nor clear sky.  Without her, everything seemed bleak and empty. Rubbing his aching temple, he walked into her room and sat on her bed. There’s no place in the apartment that could make him forget about her. She had been a part of the place; a part of his life. Every corner reminded him of her that it felt so wrong without her.

Why? Krad would have asked disgustedly if he was still around.

He didn’t say anything as unstoppable tears streamed down his cheeks.

~oOo~

Week two, and Satoshi had stayed with Risa whenever he’s not working. He didn’t want to go back to his apartment. It’s just too overwhelming. The doctors didn’t give him any hope too, making him even more miserable.

He met Riku earlier that day and the she didn’t look that please with him. She must have known he and Risa had a fight before she left his place. He’s always amazed by the twins’ telepathy. How they could feel each other’s pain was beyond his knowledge. He didn’t blame her, of course. Risa wouldn’t be in that situation if it wasn’t for him.

Now that he’s alone with Risa again, he took her hand affectionately. He sat beside the bed and put his forehead on her bandaged ones.

“I’m sorry for the pain I’ve caused,” he whispered. “So please don’t say goodbye…”

He awkwardly kissed her pale lips. It wasn’t exactly like the one Risa gave him, but it was the only thing he could give. He didn’t ask much. He just wanted her to respond; to tell him that he’s doing it the wrong way.

His vision blurred as warm tears formed. The girl remained unresponsive.

“I love you, Risa. Don’t leave me...

I'm immune to people's words when they're wishing me to be married in near future. Sorry people, I just have many other things in mind to think about getting married at this age, especially when I have no one special in my heart.

But when I saw my friend's wedding & honeymoon pictures just now, some strange and weird voice in my mind said: I want to get married too.

NO WAY! I'm not thinking about it, I'm not thinking about it! It's just too much for my unprepared mind! I'm not thinking about it!!!

better say 'no'

wat did i do
I was in a position of not being able to say no when my uncle had personally asked me to be his daughter's bride's maid last week. I mean, under normal circumstance, I'd definitely say no and pretended like I had other important things to do on that day. It's not like I'm close with that cousin anyway. Even though we don't have any conflict with each other, we rarely talk to each other whenever we met. The only cousin I can be comfortable with is with my cousin from Ipoh. With others, I tend to be very quiet (and with my 'stunning' natural ability to look like I want to kick someone's ass when I'm quiet, nobody really want to start a conversation with me unless they know the real me. Trust me, I don't bite...without a reason). I could even count the number of conversation I had with my cousin on the wedding days. We talked so little, and I still couldn't decipher the reasons for her to tell me to stay with her even after the wedding ceremony is over. The only thing I did was following her back silently and be pretty. Ok, so I lied about being pretty, but that's the only reason I could think of during my silent period.

So on the wedding days (for two days in a row-- one at my cousin's house and the other one at her husband's), I became very awkward with cameras aimed at the newly wed and of course me who stood beside the bride. At first I could fake my smile but after a very short time, I gave up. It's not that I'm not happy for them, but I just can smile that much. My face muscles became tired and I stopped smiling. At her husband's house was the worst. and It was raining, and walking in the rain with white baju kurung, walking on a wet, slippery ground and holding an umbrella for other people has never been my favourite past time. The deejay had poorly tried to match make me with the best man. While other people thought that it's cute, me (and my brothers at the other side of the house) thought otherwise. It's totally lame and not funny. How could they be so sure I'm single, huh? Yea, the truth is I am single, but I've put up enough fake evidences that suggest that I'm in a relationship. I wear a ring, I kept checking on my phone as if I'm sms-ing my boyfriend and I never tell anyone except my family and besties that I'm single. So how could they do that, huh? And what the heck with a joke to give my phone number to anyone who's interested? If the best man or anyone there who is desperate to find a bride, please do it in a proper way. I have my standards, and doing that only turned me off. Period. It annoyed me even more when the best man and his friends tried to make a (failed) conversation with their hands busy with tobaccos. I don't go for smokers.

There's also an old belief that if a person becomes a bride's maid or best man, he/she is going to be married in the near future. I've listened to that on the wedding days, but I guess I'm cool with it. Say what they want. I'm still single, and all I'm interested right now is to finish my final semester, pray that everything will be fine once I've become a teacher and stabilise my economy (I'm sucks in Math, so I have to learn fast how to manage my income!). I have a responsibility as a daughter to fulfil.

In short, my first experience being a bride's maid is definitely my last. I'm not going to be a bride's maid again in the future. To anyone out there who has a difficulties in smiling for a long time like me, you better say no.

Disclaimer: Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru is not mine.
Pairing: Hotsuma x Shusei.
Synopsis: Hotsuma caught a cold and it’s time for Shusei to take care of him.
Word count: 1390 words.

“A cold medicine for an idiot.”
Toko blinked a few times. It’s not everyday she could hear Shusei used such a word for his partner.
“Hotsuma?” she asked while stirring a pot of porridge in front of her. “But he was so lively and jumpy last night.”
“We had a practice after that and he tripped into a lake behind the mansion.”
“And here I thought idiots can’t get cold.”
Shusei just smiled and continued his search in finding the right medicine for Hotsuma. It was another peaceful weekend in Twilight Mansion. They were free from any mission and where most of them spend their precious free time outside of the place, Hotsuma was forced to stay on his bed for his cold. Of course he had tried to poorly convince his partner that he was healthy before he successfully consumed by his headache and almost kissed the floor if it wasn’t for Shusei to break his fall. And his continuous sneezing episode soon after that destroyed his last hope in claiming his healthy status. Shusei was making porridge for Hotsuma and added a few tablets of supplements into it to help his partner recover faster when a horror-stricken Toko came. She was afraid that Shusei’s...’cooking’ would only kill whichever poor soul who dared to eat it. In the end, she’d volunteered herself to make porridge for Hotsuma. Tsukumo then joined the two and was very generous to share some of his limited edition marshmellow to Shusei to be given to their sick friend. By the time Shusei arrived to Hotsuma’s room, he heard his partner sneezed.
“I’ve told you that your cold is bad,” Shusei said as he put down the tray on a table beside the bed.
Hotsuma –on his sick and weak state— glared and blew his nose onto a tissue, “Who the hell you think made me sick, huh?!”
Shusei feigned hurt, “Why are you blaming me for your own clumsiness? I didn’t push you into the lake nor did I make you jumped into the lake. You did it by your own choice.”
“Because you cheated, you jerk! And it wasn’t even a choice. You know there’s a lake nearby, yet you didn’t warn me before—”
The blonde sneezed and squeezed his eyes shut. His headache had intensified after his little outburst. Shusei rinsed the towel on Hotsuma’s forehead and placed it back on the burning skin.
“Would the enemy tell you that during a battle?” Shusei asked with a poker face. “Besides, everyone in this mansion knows the existence of the lake.”
“That’s why you’re my partner, idiot! You’re supposed to be my eyes when I can’t see!”
“Says the one who claims that he can kick my ass with his eyes closed.”
“Shut up!”
“Hai, hai.”
Shusei’s smile annoyed the blonde and covered his head with the blanket. He hated it when his partner treated him like a five years old brat. Having this cold worn out his body. Silently, Hotsuma tried to solve the mysteriousness of his cold. How could he— the healthiest person in the mansion— easily submitted to a mere cold?! He exercised regularly, he only ate snacks once a week and he even finished his vegetables (well, except for carrots. It tasted weird to him). Falling into a lake shouldn’t make him this sick. If there’s anyone that could be sick easily, it should be Shusei. That brunette never cared about his meal! And to be this weak was embarrassing; humiliating!
“Hey, don’t sleep,” Shusei called. “You have to eat a little and take the medicine.”
The blonde didn’t respond.
“Hotsuma?”
The blonde pretended to be asleep.
He could feel his partner moved closer and when the brunette removed the blanket from his head, a cold hand touched his neck to check on his temperature. Hotsuma flinched involuntarily with the touch.
Shusei sighed, “Guess I have to call Isuzu—”
Hotsuma snapped his eyes opened and almost jumped out of the bed, “Anything but that freak!”
Besides the bed, Shusei smirked triumphantly and gestured the sick blonde toward the porridge. Hotsuma sneezed a few times before he glared at both his partner and the porridge.
“The last time I ate your cooking I ended up having diarrhea,” Hotsuma said bitterly.
“Toko made this one.”
Hotsuma looked at the porridge again. When he was sure that the colour of it wasn’t as suspicious as Shusei’s especially made porridge, a sigh of relief escaped his lips. After winning (another) verbal fight with Shusei, Hotsuma proved to the brunette that he was capable of eating on his own and took a spoonful of it. A moment of silence filled the room as the sick Zweilt froze and his face turned green.
“What’s wrong?” Shusei asked.
But Hotsuma didn’t reply. His temperature heightened and Shusei swore that he saw Hotsuma’s soul almost left his body. Officially, Toko had been listed in the blonde’s list of world’s worst cooks. No wonder she was never seen in the kitchen. No wonder Tsukumo was so into snacks and junk food. He must have eaten his sister’s cooking before and traumatized until now. Yuki...he needed Yuki. Only that boy could understand his suffering right now!
“—suma.”
The blonde stirred.
“Hotsuma.”
He opened his eyes, blinking weakly to force his dizziness away.
“Hotsuma, can you hear me?” Shusei called worriedly.
“Yea...what happened?”
“You blacked out.”
The blonde closed his eyes again, “Shit.”
“Toko isn’t going to be happy to know that you spilled her porridge.”
“Well, I’m sorry that her cooking is as bad as yours.”
A moment of silence later, Shusei spoke. “Here.”
Something pressed on Hotsuma’s lips. He opened his eyes to find that Shusei poked a colourful marshmellow into his mouth.
“Tsukumo wants you to have it. Eat it and then take your medicine. Then go to sleep.”
Maybe Tsukumo had already known that the porridge was inedible, Hotsumo mused while munching the marshmellow.
“Shusei,” Hotsuma called after swallowing his medicine. “Can you...c-can stay with me until I’m totally asleep?”
The brunette made a poker face, “What are you? A brat?”
If it wasn’t for his weak body, he’d have punched his partner with his super punch. “Don’t be too cocky, you jerk! I’m just...” —the blonde created the fastest excuse he could manage— “I-I might throw up with this annoying dizzy. S-so...I need someone to be here so that I won’t spoil my bedsheet. I don’t want other people to know that I’m sick.”
“Toko and Tsukumo already know that you’re sick.”
“Then call them and make sure that they won’t spread a word about it!”
Truthfully, when he was sick, he tended to have dreams from his past and they scared him. With Shusei by his side, at least...at least it’d help him to know that the past would no longer harm him. Among the Zweilts, only Shusei knew about his past. And only Shusei managed to ease his anxiety and put him in a peaceful sleep. Or maybe, it’s his cold that made him thought like that. He’d never know. But he wanted to keep it that way.
“With one condition,” Shusei said with a smirk.
“Since when do you start asking for a reward?”
“You have to admit that I’m stronger than you.”
“WHAT?!”
“It’s not that hard, isn’t it?”
“There’s no way I’m going to admit something that’s not true to—”
“I’m leaving then—”
“Wait up, you idiot!”
Shusei knew that it’s an easy winning from the start.
“You...” Hotsuma whispered bitterly. “...are slightly stronger than me.”
“I’m sorry, I can’t hear you,” Shusei teased a little bit more.
“I said you’re stronger than me! Satisfied?!”
There’s nothing sweeter than victory. But he couldn’t celebrate it on the spot as the sick blonde collapsed for the second time. Guessed admitting a defeat took out his partner’s energy a lot more than he thought. Putting Hotsuma in a more comfortable position under the blanket, Shusei stared at his partner. He’d definitely call Isuzu after this.
“Shusei...” Hotsuma mumbled in his unconscious state. “I’m going...to kick your sorry ass in our next training.”
After poking the blonde to make sure that he’s really unconscious, Shusei smiled in defeat. An idiot could after all, caught a cold.
“You can always try, partner. But you can never win against me.”

writer's mode
ok, so I just couldn't stop myself from posting something in this blog even though I did say I didn't want to use this webpage anymore. What can I say? I'm just human. This time I'm just going to post Uragiri wa Boku No Namae o Shitteiru's fanfic. Just to let you know, I see the two's relationship as more toward bromance rather than *cough* you-know-what.

Disclaimer: Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru is not mine.

Pairing: Hotsuma x Shusei.

Synopsis: Hotsuma had vowed not to eat anything until he was sure that Shusei ate something.

Word count: 2033 words.

Hotsuma stared at the door of his childhood friend. He's early today, and he was very determined to make sure that the idiot would at least take a bite of his breakfast. As much as he tried not to pry on his partner's business, when it comes to his 'healthy' diet, Hotsuma just couldn't turn the other cheek. Not when he's ridiculously skinny and pale almost all of the time.

"Shusei?" he called after a knock.

No answer.

"Oi Shusei, it's me."

When he got no reply, he opened the door and found that the room was empty. It didn't take Einstein to know that Shusei already left. So Hotsuma went down to the dining hall with a faint hope that Shusei would be there. It didn't surprise him to find that his target was nowhere to be found. The only people around were the Murasame siblings who were too busy arguing about snacks to acknowledge him. Then again, to say that Tsukumo couldn't sense him with that God's Ears of his was an underestimation.

It's too weird, he thought. Shusei might purposely left early to school to avoid from being nagged by him. But to be missing this early was impossible.

"Morning, Hotsuma-kun," Yuki greeted as he entered the hall wearing an apron and a pot on both hands. "Please take a seat. I'll—"

"Have you seen Shusei?" he cut Yuki.

Yuki seemed to be thinking, and shook his head, "Have you checked his room?"

"Yea, but it's empty."

"He went out with Takashiro-san earlier this morning. It seems like the police wants his help again," Toko interrupted the two and took a slice of bread from the table.

"That early?" Hotsuma exclaimed. "Can't they wait until the sun rises?"

"It could be that serial killer case. The police might have found something related to the murderer," Tsukumo gave a suggestion.

"I'm sure he'll be back soon, Hotsuma-kun." Yuki tried to cheer things up. "Aren't you going to join us for breakfast?"

"Not today," he simply replied.

To be out that early, he was very sure that Shusei didn't eat anything since yesterday. If Shusei didn't care about his meal, then so did he. He'd vowed not to eat anything until he was sure that Shusei ate something. As he walked out of the Twilight Mansion, Hatsumo growled. Why couldn't the police investigate it on their own? Wasn't it was their job? And that Takashiro! He should know better how Shusei's power would affect him once he's done with such a task. He'd seen many times; how drained his partner would be after each session.

Throughout the day, there was no trace that suggested that his partner came to school. He was agitated, and to his annoyance, his stomach grumbled numerous times that he was sure that a girl from his class kept looking at him with suspicious stare. During break Yuki had try to convince him to eat with them, which he (thought that he) politely declined. He's a man of his words, and he'd stick to his vow not to eat anything until he was sure that his partner ate. How could Shusei do this anyway? Didn't his stomach beg him for food?

Later on, he went on a small mission— or to be more precise, being a bodyguard for Yuki which made him more annoyed. It's not that he didn't want to protect Yuki. It's just that he wanted to go back immediately, checking on his partner. But since the Murasame siblings had other errands to be settled, and Luka sensed a presence of an Opast, he could do nothing but to oblige to his responsibility as a Zweilt. It was already dark by the time they arrived and to both Yuki and Luka, Hotsuma looked like he was literally flying on his way back to Twilight Mansion. He went straight to Shusei's room and opened it without knocking. A sense of relief washed over him when he saw Shusei slept peacefully on the bed. Judging by the position he was in, he'd probably collapsed on the bed right after he arrived.

Sighing, Hotsuma decided to let his partner sleep for another minute and went to the kitchen to find something for Shusei (and hopefully for him) to eat. When he came back to the room, Shusei was still in the same position when he left minutes ago.

"Shusei," Hotsuma called and shook his partner's shoulder softly.

It took some time for him to wake the other up.

"Let me sleep, Hotsuma," Shusei grumbled tiredly with his eyes still closed.

"You can sleep later. I know you didn't eat anything since yesterday," Hotsuma insisted and switched on the lamp table. And if you didn't eat, I couldn't eat, he thought bitterly.

Now that he could have a better look on Shusei, Hotsuma didn't like the way his partner looked. Shusei looked paler and he didn't seem to have the energy even to stay awake.

"Come on, just take a bite, and then you can sleep as long as you want," Hotsuma persuaded and sat beside his partner on the bed.

Shusei took a peek at the food that Hotsuma brought, and looked away. "I don't have appetite."

Hotsuma stared at his partner and sigh. "Was it that bad?"

"What's bad?"

"The investigation."

"As usual."

Hotsuma knew that it's a lie.

"It's bad, wasn't it?"

The brunette sat tiredly without facing his partner, "What's you point, Hotsuma?"

"You refuse to eat because you're reminded about the things that you saw from your vision, isn't it? I saw the way you look at the food. You felt disgusted; you lost your appetite because it reminds you of what you saw today, am I right?"

Shusei couldn't look at the blonde. He knew Hotsuma better than anyone else, so when did this guy was able to read through his mind? Didn't he mask it perfectly?

"Do you want to talk about it?" Hotsuma offered, keeping his temper at bay.

There's nothing to be talked about. People got killed, evidences were found, they sought him for help, he looked at the evidences, and he told them what he saw. End of story. So what's there to be talked about?

Instead of answering, the brunette just smiled and rested his head on Hotsuma's shoulder, "Why can't you be this nice to the others?"

A faint blush appeared on the blonde's face, "Shut up."

And the two remained silent. If Shusei didn't want to talk about it, it's fine; that's just the way for him to show that he's not weak and Hotsuma respected that. He just hoped that his friend wouldn't overdo it. That's all. Shusei was about to fall asleep when their comfortable silence was interrupted by the loud sound of stomach grumbling. He was very sure that the sound didn't come from him, so it could only be from his partner. He looked up immediately to find Hotsuma blushed as read as tomatoes. It didn't take long for the brunette to laugh.

Damn this traitorous stomach! Hotsuma cursed. "Stop laughing, you jerk! How do you think my stomach can survive without food for almost twenty four hours? I'm already at my limit!"

"Then why didn't you eat?"

"Because—" Hotsuma was taken aback. Darn it! Shusei wasn't supposed to know about it!

"Because...?"

He's so busted. "Because..."

"Is it because I said that you look like you've gained weight?"

"I'm not on extreme diet, you idiot! I just won't eat until—" Hotsuma bit his lips. There's no way he could take back his words now! Shusei stared at his partner expectantly.

"You're forcing me to eat when you're the one who doesn't want to eat?" Shusei asked and laughed again.

"I won't eat until you do!" There, he said it. It felt like the end of the world and now he wanted to sink himself deep in the Atlantic Ocean.

Shusei was startled. "Why would you do that for?"

"I-I don't know, ok?" Hotsuma barked and looked away. His face remained red. "It's just something I have to do. If my partner won't eat, then I won't either. So if you want me to eat, you have to eat too!"

Shusei laughed harder.

"Hey, it's not funny!"

"How idiot can you be, Hotsuma?"

"Not as idiot as a person who refused to eat."

"I don't have—"

"Appetite. Yea, everyone knows that. Now can you please eat so I can eat?"

Shusei looked at the food, and grimaced. As the sick images from the investigation reappeared in his mind, he buried his face onto Hotsuma's shoulder. His partner was right when he said that today's investigation affected him more than he could normally handled. The pictures themselves didn't bother him. Instead, the things that he saw beyond them were the things that disturbed him most; made him sick to the stomach. And his tired body didn't help either. Yet, to know that Hotsuma didn't want to eat because of him made him felt guilty.

"...will you eat if I eat?" Shusei murmured.

"Of course, you idiot. Why do you think I went through all the troubles?"

When Shusei didn't reply, Hotsuma took his partner by the shoulders and made the brunette faced him.

"Listen," he began. "I can't really say that I know your feelings, but I understand your situation. Nothing's going to change if you refused to eat. If..."—Hotsuma was beginning to uncomfortably blush again— "...if it's so hard for you to look at it, j-just eat with your eyes close."

Shusei was startled before he gave a faint smile, "What are you saying, Hotsuma? That would mean—"

"I'll feed you."

Hotsuma was beginning to lose control, and with the food in front of his eyes, there's no way that he'd leave the room without ravishing it to the last piece. Not when he's extremely hungry. So surrendering to Shusei was never an option. While his partner was still trying to digest the suggestion he just made, Hotsuma put his hand on Shusei's eyes while the other hand reach for the spoon to feed his friend.

"Just think about other things and eat," Hotsuma pleaded.

He almost thought that Shusei would be stubborn and refused him. After agonizing seconds, Shusei smiled.

"I'll be in your care then," Shusei responded.

~oOo~

"Just kiss already!" Isuzu exclaimed excitedly at the other wing; secretly peeping at the childhood friends using a telescope.

"What the heck are you doing, perverted old leech?" Toko asked, standing beside her brother with both hands around her hips. Tsukumo was right when he told her that he sensed someone suspicious loitering around the corridor.

"Toko-chan!" the doctor greeted the girl. "Even though I can be a pervert at times, you should be fully aware that I'm not an old man, nor I'm a leech. This genius before you is what the God has given to me since my birth! Isn't that right, Tsukumo-kun?"

Tsukumo tried to respond when his sister interjected him.

"Stop joking!" She could feel incoming headache if she continued listening to the doctor, "What exactly are you doing, using that telescope to peek into Shusei-kun's room?"

"Nothing suspicious!" –Toko gave a suspicious glare— "I'm just worried about the two, especially Shusei. He didn't look good when he came back. I just want to make sure that he's ok. Guess I can relax now that Hotsuma made him eat."

Isuzu's explanation was acceptable enough for Toko. Yet it didn't mean that she'd stop glaring. "But what's with the kissing that you said just now?"

"Er...it's—"

"And why do you check on Shusei-kun using that telescope? Can't you just ask him directly?"

"W-wait a minute, Toko-chan—"

"Does this mean that you always peeping through our windows without our knowledge?"

"Now that's unfair—"

"Even when I change my clothes?"

"Urm...sometimes—"

Isuzu's words was left unsaid as Toko took out her weapon, making the poor doctor ran for the sake of his dear life. While the two were busy running around Twilight Mansion, Tsukumo took Isuzu's abandoned telescope and used it to look at Shusei's room.

"His dessert looks delicious. I wonder if Katsumi can make another one for me."

I was pretty sleepy when I last edit this, so do tell me if there's any mistake.

Anyway, please tell me what you think of this fanfic! \(>w<)/

Another test from the Almighty.

It’s not fair when people tend to listen to just one side of the story.

Ok, let’s go straight to the point. Last weekend, we went for an educational conference is Lumut, Perak. We arrived in the morning, and at noon, we’re only given 2 rooms for 50 of us to share. The short 1 hour wasn’t a pleasant experience due to the fact that most of the 19 of us didn’t get the chance to bathe (and many of them were making sarcastic remarks on the owner of the room where we took temporary refuge). Still trying to be positive, we all went for lunch at 1. By the time I arrived to the apartment, only 1 room was available, and it wasn’t my room. I didn’t want to sit on the cold floor for God-knew-how-long, in addition I didn’t want to take a bath in a room where…I’m not going to say anything coz it’d make me sounds like I’m wining a lot. All the beds were taken, including the couch, so the only available place to put my butt on was on the cold floor. The other girls were sleeping with closed curtains, making the room too dark and uncomfortable to stay in.

Back to the main point, my friend contacted my other friend (friend A) who owned the other room, saying that we’re going to stay temporarily at her room to bathe. She said yes, so we went to her room. Later, while I was out, I got a phone call telling me that I got my room which was situated 2-3 room next to the first room I mentioned earlier. So I said ok and I went back. When I got back to the apartment, only four of us (including another friend who wanted to use the bathroom to shower) were there. The other 3 still didn’t come. In my defense, it was raining heavily at that time, so I thought it’d be more convenient if the other 3 just stayed in my room since they didn’t have to walk in the rain with heavy bags. Still, knowing that I didn’t have to rights to decide it, I called the other 2 original owners of the room (coz I lost the number of friend B) to ask for permission. And they say yes, no problem. I kept saying that if they want the room where I stayed at, I’d go out with no complains. Seriously. I even have friend A to be my witness. She heard everything. I never said I want the room. If they said no, I’d be more than willing to go out of the room. At 7.30, I went to my supposedly room. There, I asked them again; was it really ok for them to stay there coz I’d change my room willingly. They said ok, except for friend B, coz she wasn’t around for long. But still, I’m still wondering: why didn’t she say anything if she really wanted to stay in her rightful room? Why avoided me when she can say it right to my face?

10 minutes later, while waiting in the rain for more than half an hour for others to go out for dinner, someone just walked at my back and said rude things about us, mocking me for wanting the room. They say I’m selfish (until now). Ok, so maybe I am selfish coz I didn’t really think about friend B. I didn’t ask for her permission.

But what makes me pissed off is the fact that no one was mature enough to come to me and said that what I did was wrong and I should leave the room immediately. I mean, WTF? Was it mature by saying rude things behind our backs and only listened to half of the story? I never said I WANT the room. I said I want to TEMPARORILY use the room. I didn’t unpack my stuffs until night because I was waiting for someone to tell me to go out of the room. They say I’m selfish and impatient. The question is, was it selfish if I suggest to them to change the room after I GOT the key to my room? I waited until 5.30 pm, no one came to the room. I waited at night, nobody said anything. Was it selfish for me to ask whether it’s ok for them to stay at my room because I didn’t want them to walk in the rain when they could walk and stay in the same building where they put their luggage? Why didn’t anyone say anything in front of my face? Why didn’t anyone try to talk to me like a real mature person?

I didn’t know where the misunderstanding started, but I sure know not to trust certain people anymore.

Yet, knowing them for almost 6 years, it’s not a surprise. It’s not a first time they treated me like this. I can vividly remember what they did to me years ago. They never say sorry, and I never expect that. And now as they begin to avoid me again— or in their term; ‘boycott’ me, I’m cool with that. I was never close to them, and I’m still not close to them even now. That’s why I never know how to react to them when I know that they can stab me without me looking. At least it shows just how far they really know me.
Some of them genuinely approach me because they really want to be friends, and I’m very, very grateful with that.

Who needs hundreds of so-called friends who don’t know the real you when you can get a small number of friends that can see the truth behind lies?

Fanfic: Four Years

Disclaimer: DN Angel is not mine.

Pairing: Satoshi x Risa.

Synopsis: She keeps coming while he keeps wondering why.

Word count: 1498 words.

Four year.

It's been four years since his sudden disappearance and after all of her efforts this was the only thing she got?

The girl stared intensely at the chief commander who seemed oblivious towards her. She knew that the guy noticed her, yet she couldn't comprehend the reason for his ignorant. And knowing Risa Harada, she wouldn't let things like this slipped easily.

"Why are you doing this to yourself?" she said sternly.

With an indifferent expression, Hiwatari Satoshi replied, "I have to read it, or I can't investigate this case."

And the girl's patience came to an end.

"I'm not talking about these reports!" she exclaimed as she took the reports away from him. "I'm talking about this, Satoshi-kun!"

As the girl pointed her finger to the untouched food on the table, Satoshi only stared at her silently. Eating was something that he wasn't really accustomed with. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he had a proper meal ever since he learned about his curse, about his short life span. He didn't even know whether the curse still plague him even though Krad was no longer with him for years. And so, eating only served as his energy source only when he really needed it.

To think back about it, since when did he allow this noisy girl to enter his apartment— and his life? She's loud, she loved to butt into other people's business, she had no talent in cooking, had a fetish on that good for nothing thief, and above all, she loved to get herself into troubles.

So when did they become this…close?

It's hard for them to talk to each other without having some sort of a fight. Well, not really a fight, because Satoshi tended to be very quiet and indifferent whenever Risa tried to tell him to take a better care of himself. Most of the time, Risa would storm away from him with a non-stop babbling but would come back to him the next day.

Talk about irony.

Last time he met her, the younger Harada was heart-broken, mourning the loss of her love. And he had left soon enough without telling anyone but Niwa Daisuke. After four years, he had the urge to come back to Azumano for the reason he couldn't tell.

Their reunion was unexpected. Since Daisuke told him that the girl had left the town to pursue her dream, he'd let his guard down. Or maybe he was simply tired. Or Risa just had the natural talent in getting herself into troubles. Little did he know that the girl had returned. Four years didn't seem to change her to live like most girls. Risa (as she claimed) was being accused for causing injuries to a man who was actually trying to molest her. He barely had the time to register the ruckus that the girl caused in the police station when she saw him. As his comeback was exposed to her, his hard earned peaceful life had a turn of table.

Harada Risa had once again entered his life.

Now, Satoshi put his hand on his temple, trying hard to unsolve the mysterious existence of the girl in front of him.

She's not a family, that's for sure.

She's not really a friend either.

So…

"Risa," he said, unconscious about the use of the first name basis. "Why are you here?"

"To make sure that you're still alive," she replied almost immediately.

"You're trespassing my apartment."

Ignoring the guy's comment, Risa continued to nag, "When did the last time you eat? You look pale."

"…I always look pale," he retorted, walking towards the fridge and took out a bottle of water.

"Hiwatari Satoshi."

His mind failed to decipher the reason why Niwa used to fall for this girl.

She's stubborn.

She's persistent.

She's cute— ok, that one was unnecessary!

She's getting on his nerve.

So why did he let this girl in?

Truthfully, it's not that he's not interested with the girl. In fact, he was attracted to her since the beginning of his mission during the heist of Dark. However, the reality always hurt him. He couldn't own anything precious; just like how much he loved his mother.

Love was a farfetched thing; more like a myth, something that's impossible to be held.

And being a loner for as far as he could remember, he didn't know how to let other people to enter his life. Niwa Daisuke was an exception, but Harada Risa…?

"I'm not his replacement," he once said, making the girl froze with a painful expression. "I'm not Dark, Harada-san. And I'm not going to be his replacement."

"…I know…" she slowly replied after a long silent.

With a cracked smile, she left and wasn't seen for a few days…until now. She's too weird and mysterious and…unpredictable. Wasn't she was the one who declared that she hated him when they're young? So why did she keeps coming back?

"Yesterday," he gave in, gaining a quizzical look on Risa's face. "I ate lunch at 2pm yesterday. Now that you know, please leave this place."

"After that?" she asked, pretending like she didn't hear the last sentence.

"After what?"

"Did you eat anything after that?"

Ironically, now he wished that Krad was here. At least that would keep her away from him.

"Hara—"

"Did you, or did you not?"

The blue eyes stared intensely at the brown ones without a blink. Silently, he took a step forward.

Then another step.

Followed by a few others.

Until their faces were only centimeters apart.

"Harada-san…" he said slowly.

The use of slow tone by the young man caused a faint blush to appear on Risa's determined face, "W-what?"

"You…" he continued, making Risa held her breath for God knows why.

As far as she remembered, they were never this close. So when he stood in front of her like this, she could almost hear her heartbeat as loud as…er…as loud as Saehara's excited voice upon getting very up to date news!

And when he stared at her like that, she could do nothing but felt mesmerized by those cold, ice blue eyes. They looked very pretty without those glasses. She wondered if this guy realized that he looked very, very handsome without them. Then again, he did say that he didn't really need his glasses. If he didn't have a problem with his sight, then why did he wear it years ago? And when the same blue eyes pierced into hers like this, she couldn't shake away the nervousness she felt.

"W-w-what?" she stammered.

"Your phone is ringing," he said monotonously and took back his reports from her hands.

Risa's face flushed, and she was struggling not to let it showed in front of this guy. She glared daggers to him before frantically searched for her phone. As she answered the call, she used her mind power to tell Satoshi to eat the bento which she made about an hour ago. God knew just how skinny the guy was. For God's sake, he's not even twenty, didn't live in a country with a high rate of famine— or bulimia! What made it so hard for him to eat something? Speaking of eating, what did he feed on to keep alive? Water and sunlight?

Sighing, she closed her phone and stared at the blue haired guy who seemed to get caught up with his work again. Unknown to her, Satoshi was actually studying her every movement.

"I have to go," she said.

Satoshi immediately looked up even before his mind managed to stop him. Trying to cover it up, he just scoffed and flipped the files noisily. He thought that he should say something, yet nothing seemed to come to his mind. The younger Harada was about to open the door when she sensed a presence behind her. When she turned around, her heart almost stopped upon seeing Satoshi's shirt clad chest; only inches apart from her face. Damn, weren't girls supposed to be taller than boys during this age? Why did she feel so much shorter than him?

"You forgot your sweater," he said, handing her the red sweater.

"T-Thanks…" she replied, trying hard not to stammer. "Ano…Satoshi-kun?"

Satoshi looked at her with curious, hinting her to continue.

"Please eat something," she continued with a serious expression. "I really mean it."

And she left, leaving the stunned commander to stand in front of his door step. His tired mind tried to digest the unexplainable feeling he now felt. Since when did Harada Risa become to mature and…so beautiful? Had she changed when he was absent? Why didn't he notice it until now?

He ruffled his hair to push the weird thoughts away when he stopped in front of the coffee table; staring at the meal made by the girl.

Well…he did feel a bit hungry…

Besides, how bad could it be to have a bite or two?

~oOo~

The next morning, Commander Hiwatari Satoshi was admitted to the hospital due to food poisoning.

It seemed that four years didn't change Risa's poor skills in cooking.
